America's Oldest Brewery producing "an English Style Dark Beer?" Who's running this place, Benedict Arnold?

Nay, it is Dick Yuengling, president of D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc., the pride of Pottsville, PA.

Yuengling must figure that because the Revolutionary War's been over for 210 years, it's safe to set aside matters

of Red, White and Blue in favor of Black & Tan. That's the name of his new packaged beer, a former draft-only

product. David Casinelli, director of sales and marketing (and one who refuses to identify himself as either Whig

or Tory), explains, "Increased demand by wholesalers and consumers alike led to the introduction of Yuengling

Black & Tan in 16-ounce cans. We are experiencing very positive growth within this new market segment, and

plans for additional packages are being considered."

Perhaps, but just wait until word reaches General Washington at Fraunces Tavern.
